Ketchup

Pınar Ketchup, made from sun ripened tomatoes, is a much-loved table sauce and a delicious accompaniment to a range of dishes.  Try spreading it on pasta, sandwiches, hamburgers, pizzas, canapés, grilled and fried meat dishes, as well as on potato chips. Pınar Ketchup is available in 500g and 750g bottles.

Pınar Ketchup is rich in lycopene, a pigment which is found naturally in fruit and vegetables, and belongs to the carotene family. Based on current research, lycopene is an active agent which can help prevent different types of cancer – prostate, digestive track, breast and lung – as well as slowing heart degeneration in old age.

Lycopene is an anti-oxidant which is absorbed by the body.  It helps repair damaged cells by fighting DNA oxidation, which can cause cancer. It has been found that as the amount of lycopene in the blood increases, there is a correlated decrease in the amount of oxidized compounds.

The human body is unable to produce lycopene. However 85% of lycopene in nature is found in tomatoes and tomato products. The remainder is found in tropical fruits, watermelon and red grapefruits. Tomato paste, ketchup and tomato juice are all rich in lycopene. According to research, it is the lycopene from processed tomatoes (i.e. tomato paste and ketchup) that is best absorbed by the body.

It is now known that it is this anti-oxidant effect of lycopene that reduces the risk of cancer - breast, digestive track, cervix, bladder, skin and lung. Lycopene also has a repairing and rejuvenating effect on the skin.
